Education & Parks

Alderman Thompson is committed to providing every child in the 11th Ward with a quality education to start them on their journey toward success. He has worked to improve many schools- both private and public as well as renovate our parks and playgrounds. These efforts include:

  • $8 million annex (gym space, new bathrooms and classrooms) at Mark Sheridan School with an elevator added to the existing building.

  • $2 million roof repair at Tilden High School.

  • New Playground at McClellan School

  • New Playground currently being constructed at Armour School

  • New Lighting at Armour School

  • TIF funding for elevator at Armour School

  • New Sidewalks on Wallace Street at Healy School

  • $5.9million of masonry and roof repairs at Healy School

  • $5.9million of masonry and roof repairs at Ward School

  • New playground at Jacolik Park

  • New Park 571 including a new park building with rowing equipment

  • New field at McInerney Playlot

  • New roof at Bosley Park

  • New playground at Barbra Jean Wright Courts

  • $5million TIF renovation at McGuane Park (including new roof, elevator, structural repairs).

  • New playground at Sun Yat Sen Playlot

  • New playground at Sintic Playground Park

  • Implementation of Traffic Plan at Healy School

  • Implementation of Traffic Plan at Bridgeport Catholic Academy (BCA)

  • Safety Barricades donated to: St. Jerome, St. Gabriel, BCA, Ward School, Healy School, Holden School and St. Barbara.
